PATCHY RANGOLI – PINSTALLATION @ MUSEUM OF THE HOME

Based on last year’s successful interactive installation I & the public created for Diwali celebrations at Museum Of The Home, they asked me back again this year for their Winter Festival event this coming weekend, which is nice 🙂

Myself & the team will help people create Rangoli inspired designs, which will go on to form a larger co-created artwork through textile installation, which will remain in the space for an extended period after the day is done.…

WOMEN IN REVOLT! @ TATE BRITAIN – BHAJAN HUNJAN

It’s Diwali season, and thought i’d shine some light on fellow South Asian artist Bhajan Hunjan.

I met Bhajan a couple years ago randomly at the Tate Members Cafe. I was perched with a coffee & sketchbook, wearing a bright blue turban, thinking I really wanted that Lemon Drizzle slice but didn’t want to spend £5.95! ‘ROAD TO GROWTH’ ARTWORK- TURNAROUND CENTRE

My youth work period kicked off back in 2006-ish when I got employed to run art based workshops in schools, then youth clubs, then community centres etc. I remember my first ever school gig & thought how easy it was to connect with the students through my art, they just got it, in a non-text book way. Since then, I’ve constantly used my art to connect the often most challenged / the most hard to reach individuals, resulting in some super rewarding moments over the years…

Recently I worked in partnership with Croydon Youth Service (YJS) with some young people to help realise an artwork  as part of a Reparation Project during the summer. 

Through a series of art based sessions at the Turnaround Centre, these sessions explored observation, design & various application techniques, from concept to final artwork.…
