My talented photographer friend Hark1karan has a book out PIND: A Portrait Of A Village In Rural Punjab – 4yrs in the making. The book aims to show everyday life in Punjab, India as a reference point for Punjabi culture through a human lens. The book contains 130 photos over 192 pages.

“WE WERE THE LUCKY FEW” – REFUGEE WEEK 2020

I was commissioned by the National Archives UK to create a series of illustrations responding to refugee stories for Refugee Week 2020 – the whole process moved me, as it made me think of how it must’ve been for my family during Partition.

“The aim of this year’s programme is to share information about the reality of the refugee experience. The Partition of British India, which led to one of the largest mass migrations in history, contains countless stories and is a fitting way to speak to this experience.

It’s crazy how you can watch someone on film, you’ve never met them in person, yet they can touch you with their Art in a mad way. I’ve been watching films with Irrfan in them for years but never really acknowledged his greatness until I got older and started to really ‘look / feel’ the content / delivery in things. I came across the film ‘The Lunchbox’ which a friend recommended to me at the start of the year, and which I’ve now watched a good number of times, consequently becoming one of my fave films ever.…
