We finally have the details of my independently organised solo show to share with you, it’s happening…
The inspiration behind #NoFaceLikePhone stemmed from a moment with a friend well over a year ago during dinner. For some reason, she was on her phone the whole time updating Facebook / Twitter etc to tell everyone where she was, who with and what food she was about to eat…i’m sure you or someone you know can relate…
It wouldn’t have bothered me as much if it was just a moment or two of online activity, fair enough, but it was the whole time, to the point her chicken got cold and I just got annoyed (I ate her chicken, waste not…)
After the dinner, this made me question relationships on the whole and how truly connected we are with one another, with our phones between us the whole time…
So I decided to create an entire body of work based around our relationships with our phones and their impact on general society.…
During the last year, I became an artist in residence in the old Guardian building down Farringdon (previous base for both The Guardian and The Observer papers), where I was able to produce a solid body of work with the intention of having a solo show by the end of my time there…
So finally, after keeping it all hush hush for so long, happy to announce the show title #NoFaceLikePhone and launch date, 20th October, and even more happy to say, it’s all independent or ‘Pindependent’ (like that) with no gallery backing this time around, nothing against that, just wanted to take more control with things so I can give you more of my vision, exactly the way I like.…
Hey peeps, if you’re free later on today and wish to get your mind off the current political madness for a couple hours, feel free to whizz down to the launch off the Summer exhibition at Darren Baker Gallery, and enjoy some splendid art…
I’ll be exhibiting some super fresh ‘Lichtenstein’ inspired works alongside other established and upcoming artists, with prizes and goodie bags to be won on the night courtesy of DBG.…
Caught the recent Ai Wei Wei show at the Royal Academy and it was quite possibly the best show I’ve ever been too, just WOW!
The level of craftsmanship, conceptual language used and overall depth / scale executed by Chinese artist Ai through his works was totally inspiring…
I wasn’t too familiar with Ai’s work and background prior to the show, but have since immersed myself in his world both as artist and activist (and architect), which is both fascinating and revealing, of one man’s quest to create the most truest art, by any means necessary!…
The exhibition features over 100 crazy talented tattooists from around the globe all coming together to donate a work of art to raise awareness for the cancer charity Sarcoma UK.
And if the super fresh art wasn’t enough, Supermodel Cara Delevingne and Super talented tattoo artist Cally Jo showed up and squeezed in a selfie with my Sweet Toof sticker, #COOLFRESHPOW
Well done to Alice Snape (editor of T & I Mag), the rest of the Things & Ink team and Atomica Gallery for such a great show…
The exhibit is on from now til 15th October 2014, so whizz down and have a looky if you ain’t been already…
