A Portrait of Central Hill and Zimmers of Southall 1 & 2 Screening – Directors Q&A with Hark1karan & PiNS

During Lockdown 2020, I went out around my local council estates  & promoted free ‘Sketch The Vibe’ sessions for anyone who needed a creative way to get through the tough time of being indoors & isolated. One of the estates I ran these sessions was at Central Hill Estate, and remember how strong the community spirit was there when walking around, meeting residents (mindful distancing) & exploring the architectural delights that popped out in random spots.…

COMMON THREADS Workshop / 575 Wandsworth Road x Battersea Arts Centre

Happy to share I’ll be working with the team at 575 Wandsworth Road to deliver a workshop at Battersea Arts Centre for their Common Threads programme, inspired by the current textile collection at the house through upcycling accessories in a fresh & accessible way.

Kenyan-born poet, novelist & civil servant, Khadambi Asalache bought the house at 575 Wandsworth Road back in 1981 whilst working at the Treasury, and spent 19 years from 1986 turning his home into a work of art, through extensive fretwork patterns & motifs, which he hand-carved from reclaimed pine doors & floorboards salvaged from local skips…all started because of a persistent damp issue in the basement dining room which he tried to fix & cover up, without looking like an eyesore.…

SUMMER SESSIONS @ THE ROSE COMMUNITY CLUBROOM, WANDSWORTH – RECAP

Been abit slow to update things on here, but here we are…

So over August I had the opportunity to run a two week summer programme of activity at the Rose Community Clubroom, where I’m currently working as an arts facilitator for an after school club here every Monday. I took it back to the good ol’ youth club days where a mix of arts & crafts, gaming & sports would be the main offering at the space, open to families in the local area.…
