Went to The Chelsea Flower Show last week and absolutely loved it! Thanks to fellow friend and collector of my art Simon for inviting me down…was expecting flowers galore yes, but the scale and art fusion element blew me away, in particular the sculptures on display and the vividness/richness of it all…Dad used to go all the time, didn’t quite get the whole flower hype, but after visiting can see now what the fuss was about, fully inspired!…
Now I’m not the most political person, but prior to all this election malarkey, I met a mate through a brother-in-law, and he mentioned he had this super cool Pixelstick and wanted to ‘light paint’ some political art, thought why not…
The PixelStick “A tool which allows timelapse photographers to get even more creative with light. The 2 metre device holds 200 coloured led’s that walk through any image the user asks it to, from detailed artwork to your own face.”
Heres how it works…
The idea was to create some real basic artwork based on individual character themes…
…then use the PixelStick to light paint infront of polling stations in and around London…
Didn’t know what to expect, but images turned out pretty sweet, all about the process and how the shot was executed…thinking some sweet ‘light graf’ pieces next…
Big thanks to Brixton Blog for their recent feature in Brixton Bugle (May issue) covering the #SaveBrixtonArches campaign and my involvement in it, as well as write ups and imagery from the Reclaim Brixton event last weekend featuring fellow campaigner Potent Whisper and the Plunge Theatre girls doing their thang!
Grab yourself a copy from the Tate Library, The Ritzy (Windrush Square) and Brixton Recreation Centre, if you like…
And if you haven’t done already, please show your support and sign the petition to save the arches HERE
Got a new studio spot in the lovely Old Guardian building on Farringdon Road, thanks to Insert Name Here, a pop-up design and making facility, with open access workshops and studios.
Thanks to Orla and Mick, founders of Insert Name Here, for being super cool and welcoming since the move in…more pics and stuff coming up in separate post…
