‘COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS’ MURAL – OLD DIORAMA ARTS CENTRE
A recent mural commission working with Community Champions Camden to design a mural for their official space in the Old Diorama Arts Centre. The main objective was for the mural to represent the diverse local community & them having a sense of ownership of the space in someway. After some initial consultation workshops, we built on the idea of capturing the side profiles of residents, staff & users of the space, and illustrating this in the final artwork. To tie in some further locality vibes, the entire piece is a loose aerial map view of Regents Park Estate, Camden.
Enjoyed the process, mainly due to CCC for being such a vibe to work with, and the act of randomly meeting people in the estate & inviting them to become part of the artwork – vibes – plus, no ‘portrait artist of the year’ out ere, but pencil drawing a side profile looks easy, but to really nail it freehand is a serious tekkers, which after a while became rather therapeutic, as was the painting 🎨
Special thanks to Fusion for making it happen, Ellie for uniting the troops & Daniel / Tom for being super chill to work with❄️
Feel free to pop by the space & one of the lovely staff should be happy to assist a viewing 🙂
