ROSE COMMUNITY – ZINE MAKING WORKSHOP

My time as an arts facilitator at the Rose Community Clubroom has come to an end due to term time break for school holidays, so thought we’d run a Zine Making workshop with the community in the final session, sharing stories and artwork reflecting the last couple weeks at the space. The whole process was fun & moving, especially seeing both the young people & parents really think & express themselves freely through mark making, collaging & design. That feeling of seeing someone who may not think they’re ‘creative’ to magically erupt with something creative after an encouraging ‘nudge’, always reminds me of why I do what I do (without really doing anything). Everyone involved received a final copy of the ‘ROSE Zine’, which I literally hand-stapled 50 copies together, a process which felt super satisfying connecting the many creative pages together into one complete, co-created boomness!

Thankyou to my fellow facilitators Nicky (on collaborative vibes / signage) & Nev (on the doodleage), Chetna (on the printing / extra long Stapler – I want one!), featuring source material by Resolve Collective, V&A, The World of Interiors & all the community, including staff members who dropped some expressive arty goodness…

Ps. The ‘Rosey Summer Club’ in August… šŸ™‚
